Community software
BranchRunner's Community product is source-available under Business Source License 1.1. Savelkouls Ventures, LLC is the licensor. The existing Additional Use Grant permits internal production self-hosting on infrastructure you control, subject to the exact released LICENSE. Hosted or managed third-party services, white-labelling, competing-product embedding, and proprietary redistribution require commercial licensing under that grant.
Each version changes to GPL-3.0-or-later on the Change Date recorded in its own LICENSE files. Before that date, the BSL components are source-available rather than OSI-approved open source. The @branchrunner/contracts package is Apache-2.0 open source.
Package and asset boundaries
The application, API/orchestrator, runtime worker, and agent wrapper use BSL 1.1. The @branchrunner/contracts schema package is Apache-2.0. Third-party libraries, fonts and icons retain their own licences and notices. Software licences do not grant rights to the BranchRunner name, logo, or wordmark.
The release's LICENSING.md, package LICENSE files, and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md define the exact distribution. This page is a summary, not an additional grant. Use the exact versioned artifact's files rather than treating this page as a replacement license.
Version and Change Date
The first public source release is version 1.0.0, and the BSL LICENSE files name that version as the Licensed Work. See release status for what 1.0.0 covers.
The Change Date written in those files is 2029-10-01. The licensor fixed that date for 1.0.0 on 2026-10-10. The BSL's four-year maximum from a version's first public distribution still applies. Later versions receive their own Change Date when they are released. The earlier 0.1.0-pre.21 and 0.1.0-pre.22 pre-release artifacts are different versions: they keep their own published parameters and original first-public dates.
The licensor keeps the current Additional Use Grant wording. Counsel review of that wording is planned. Each released version is governed by the grant in its own LICENSE files.
Contributions and trademarks
The product's CLA.md is version 1.1. It names Savelkouls Ventures, LLC as the party that receives contribution licences. External contributions are not accepted until counsel has reviewed the CLA; see contributing. Security reports are welcome now.
Trademark clearance for the BranchRunner name follows later. The brand-use policy in LICENSING.md is an in-house draft, not a trademark permission.
Commercial enquiries
Use branchrunner.com/licensing to discuss a commercial use case with the licensor, Savelkouls Ventures, LLC. Commercial terms require a separate written agreement. This contact route does not offer a price, support commitment, managed service, or licence by itself.
